Update, November 2: Nike’s US stock is down to a third of its sizes; Europe still has nearly all of them (How it went, below).
Jordan Brand’s seasonal AJ5 went up on SNKRS in Black and Picante Red on Saturday, October 17. Men’s pairs are $215. Nike GB and Nike Spain released it the same day.
A near-blackout, with glow thread
It’s close to a blackout. Black nubuck covers the upper, with the netted quarter panels, lace lock, bump-out collar and jagged midsole all kept from the 1990 original. The red is saved for the shark teeth, the Air window, the Jumpman on the outsole and the tongue lining.
The Halloween part is in the trim. Nike’s description calls out glow-in-the-dark details. The official shots show the embroidered 23, the tongue Jumpman and the Nike Air on the heel picked out in a pale green that reads as glow thread. The outsole is translucent, icy rubber.
Can you still get a pair?
In the US, Nike has taken the SNKRS page down, and men’s pairs are on Nike’s product page. Kids’ sizes were $155 for big kids, $95 for little kids and $80 for toddlers. Foot Locker’s release calendar lists it at $220; Nike sold it at $215.
In the UK and Spain it was never on SNKRS, but Nike GB and Nike Spain have sold it since October 17.
How it went
The US thinned out fast. The day after the drop, SNKRS still had men’s pairs but big kids’ sizes had sold out. By October 28, Nike’s US page had only men’s 10 and 11 left, though big kids’ 3.5Y and 4Y came back. On November 2, Nike’s US stock had 6 of 18 sizes.
Europe is the opposite. On October 28, Nike GB and Nike Spain still had most men’s sizes, and on November 2 Nike’s European stock had all 18, ten of them deep. A general-release seasonal AJ5 shouldn’t need much more than its $215 on resale. More from the brand on our Jordan page.
