The SHAI 001 Shroud “Shock” is out at $140. It’s a Converse shoe sold through SNKRS as well as Converse. It first released on September 24, and SNKRS put it on its calendar again for Friday, October 9.
Black outside, volt inside
The Shroud is the SHAI 001 with a zip-up cover over the laces. Closed, the Shock is almost all black. Unzip it and the tongue and inner panel show a bright volt green. The same colour turns up in a pod on the outsole and on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s logo at the top of the tongue.
The SNKRS description calls the surface “clean and minimal” and leaves the colour to the wearer: zipped for all-black, open for the green.
Can you still get a pair?
Yes. It’s on Nike’s product page and at select basketball retailers at $140, in unisex sizing. It isn’t on SNKRS GB, and no UK date or £ price has been announced.
The grey SHAI 001 Shroud “Spark” followed the same path: first out on September 24, then back on SNKRS on October 9, also at $140.
How it went
It’s still at retail. On November 2, Nike’s US stock had 16 of 24 sizes left, eight sold out. It has had two rounds at retail, so you shouldn’t need to pay over $140.
Converse now, Nike next
Gilgeous-Alexander has moved from Converse to Nike. On September 29 he posted a Nike-branded SHAI 001 in orange on Instagram. No release has been announced for that pair, so for now the Converse Shroud is the version you can actually buy. More on the brand from our Converse page.
