Update, November 2: Nike’s UK and Spanish pages for the Blazy are gone, and its European stock is sold out (How it went, below).

The Blazy launched on SNKRS on Thursday, October 15, in a single tonal colour: “Varsity Red” from the laces to the heel, sitting on a white sole. It costs $95.

A Blazer that leans back

Nike describes the Blazy as a relaxed take on the Blazer. The side profile shows where it borrows from: the low, flat stance, the long Swoosh and the exposed stitching. The changes are in the fit and the sole. The toe box is roomier than a Blazer Low’s, and the white midsole is double-taped, which tips the shoe back slightly. That reclined stance is where the name comes from.

The upper mixes three materials in the same shade. Canvas sits across the quarter, suede covers the toe and the heel overlay, and smooth leather wraps the collar and the Swoosh. White contrast stitching runs round every panel. Inside, the sockliner carries an orange Nike logo on tan, and the outsole is the familiar Blazer herringbone.

Can you still get a pair?

In the US, yes. Nike has taken the SNKRS page down, and the pair is on Nike’s product page at $95. It was a standard SNKRS launch rather than a draw, and nothing suggested a small run. There’s no resale market for the Blazy to speak of, so don’t pay more than $95.

In the UK and Spain, Nike’s own pages went up on October 17 and have since come down.

How it went

The two markets went opposite ways. On October 28, Nike’s US page had every men’s size from 3.5 to 15, though most were running low. On November 2, Nike’s US stock still had 21 of 22 sizes. Nike’s European stock showed all nine of its sizes sold out.

It’s for anyone who likes the Blazer’s shape but finds the toe narrow. The leather collar and canvas will crease and fade differently, so expect the red to break into two shades with wear. More from the brand on our Nike page, and the rest of the month’s drops on our release calendar.
