The Cryoshot Mercurial Chrome ’02 OG in Chrome and Hot Lime went on sale on Nike’s SNKRS on Tuesday, October 13, at $200. Nike has since taken the SNKRS page down, and the pair now sits on its regular product page.
A football boot you can wear on concrete
The upper is the 2002 Mercurial almost line for line: liquid-silver synthetic leather with the raised ripples across the forefoot, a black Swoosh and a volt lining around the collar. A volt band sweeps down the heel.
The Cryoshot part is underneath. Nike sits the upper on a drop-in midsole with a Zoom Air unit in the heel. It keeps the stud plate but seals it inside a clear rubber outsole. You can see every stud through the sole, but none of them touch the ground. Nike’s own line is that the cleats are “encased” for “a soccer-right look that can go anywhere”.
It’s the same shoe under two names. Nike’s SNKRS listing called it the Mercurial Chrome ’02 OG, and its product page now uses Cryoshot Mercurial Vapor 1 OG.
Can you still get a pair?
Yes, at retail: it’s on Nike’s product page at $200. Nike GB lists it at £184.99. Nike Spain lists it at 199.99 €. Both pages are marked inactive, though, so it isn’t on sale in either market. Treat any resale price as a markup on that $200.
How it went
It’s still easy to find. On November 2, nearly three weeks after the drop, Nike’s US stock had all 19 sizes, 14 of them deep. It isn’t numbered or limited, and resale data is thin, so our hype score was an estimate.
Who it’s for
This is a nostalgia buy first. If you grew up with the 2002 World Cup, the colours alone will sell it. If not, $200 is a lot for a lifestyle shoe built on a football boot’s last, which runs narrow and low to the ground. More from the brand on our Nike page.
