Update, November 2: Nike’s European stock now shows most sizes sold out (How it went, below).
The Nike Kobe 10 Protro “5AM Flight” released in the US on Monday, October 5, at $200 for men’s and $125 for big kids’. Nike lists the colorway as “Blue Lagoon”. The UK and Spain got it on Saturday, October 24, on SNKRS. SNKRS GB had first dated the UK for October 10, then moved it.
Why “5AM Flight”
The colorway first released on the Kobe X in 2015. The nickname comes from a clip Kobe Bryant posted of himself diving into a pool at 5am. He was rehabbing the torn Achilles he suffered in 2013. The all-blue look follows that story: blue mesh upper, black Swoosh, a translucent blue outsole and orange accents on the heel.
Zoom and Cushlon underneath
The Protro update is under the foot. Nike’s listing describes a full-length Air Zoom strobel paired with Cushlon 3.0 foam, and a carbon wing in the midsole for lateral containment. The traction keeps the original Kobe X look but has been reworked for grip.
Can you still get a pair?
In the US, Nike’s own page for the pair has come down, so the buy button goes to Kith. Kith still listed most men’s sizes from 8 to 13 at $200 on October 22. Foot Locker, DICK’S Sporting Goods, Hibbett and Shiekh were listed among the Nike Basketball stockists.
In the UK it was on SNKRS GB, and Footpatrol still had UK 7, 8 and 9 at £165 on October 28. In Spain it was on SNKRS Spain, with older kids’ sizes at €119.99.
How it went
Europe went fast. On October 28, four days after the drop, SNKRS GB had only UK 5.5 to 7 and UK 16 left. SNKRS Spain had only EU 38.5 to 41 and 51.5. On November 2, Nike’s European stock showed 15 of its 21 sizes sold out and the other six running low.
