Update, November 2: Nike GB and Nike Spain list it on their product pages, and Nike’s stock shows it selling down (How it went, below).
The Paul Rodriguez Zoom Air Low in Ale Brown launched on Nike’s SNKRS app on Tuesday, October 13, through a timed entry window, at $125.
The first SB signature shoe
This is the shoe that started Paul Rodriguez’s signature line in 2005, when he became Nike SB’s first signature athlete. Nike pitched the retro on feel: its listing says “the flick and feel of the original returns.”
The Ale Brown pair is tonal from laces to outsole. Plush suede covers the upper, the tongue gets a textured finish, and P-Rod’s quilted pattern wraps the sidewalls around the heel. Underneath is a round-toed cupsole in matching brown rubber with a plate for impact cushioning, and a Zoom Air window at the heel. The one break from the brown is inside: a black and red sockliner with a chain-link print.
It follows a black and gum version of the same retro at the same $125. Some Nike regional sites list this pair as “Light British Tan”.
Can you still get a pair?
In the US, try Nike’s SNKRS listing, though Nike’s data now marks it inactive there. Nike SB accounts usually carry P-Rod releases, and many sell in store rather than online. Worth a call to your local shop.
Nike GB lists it at £99.99 on its product page. Nike Spain has it at 109.99 € on its own.
How it went
Slower than a Jordan retro, but it’s going. On November 2, Nike’s US stock had 8 of its 15 sizes left, all running low. Nike’s European stock had only 3 of 17 left. Treat $125 as the benchmark and don’t pay much over it.
If you skate in them, this is the pair to beat up: suede and a brown sole hide wear better than the black. More SB and Swoosh releases on our Nike page.
