PUMA’s three Street Fighter Suedes went on sale together on Friday, October 9, one per character: Ryu in white, Ken in red and Chun-Li in blue. Each is $120 on PUMA’s US site. Paramount’s live-action Street Fighter opened a week later, on Friday, October 16.
Three fighters, three Suedes
PUMA built each pair around its character’s outfit. The Ryu is cream suede with a red Formstrip and black splatter graphics, a nod to his white gi and red headband, and it comes with chunky rope laces. The Ken flips that to red suede with a cream Formstrip and a tan heel panel.
The Chun-Li is the one that breaks from the template. The side panels switch to blue leather lined with gold studs, and the toe stays blue suede. The tongue is a distressed metallic print with gold branding. PUMA calls it the pair “for collectors and fans alike”.
All three share the pack details: a black “World Warrior Tournament” tag clipped to the laces, and the fighter’s name printed on the outsole. That’s translucent rubber on the Ken and Chun-Li, cream on the Ryu. Each comes in a black collector’s box with a gold medallion and a winged-skull emblem inside the lid.
Can you still get a pair?
Yes, at $120 on PUMA.com: the Chun-Li, Ryu and Ken. Select PUMA retailers carry the pack too. No UK date or £ price had been announced when we last checked.
How it went
On November 2, PUMA’s US page still listed the Chun-Li at $120. The page doesn’t show stock by size, so we can’t say which sizes are left. This is a general release through PUMA’s own site, not a numbered drop, so you shouldn’t have to pay over retail.
Who it’s for
The film put the pack in front of plenty of people who don’t usually buy sneakers. If you only want one, the Chun-Li has the most going on. More from the brand on our PUMA page.
